Jacob Boyers Probable Ancestors
There were many Jacob Boyers born and living in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and its surrounding areas, in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Our Jacob Boyers was the one born December 18, 1823 and who later married Lydia Jewell. While the following ancestors have not yet been proven, we believe the list to be correct because of written and verbal stories passed down by the family through the years.
Family history relates that there was also a Captain Valentine Boyers who came from France with Captain Lafayette and fought in the American Revolution. We all know that stories are embelished and revised as they pass from one story teller to the next. This Captain may only have been a Lieutenant or maybe even an enlisted man. From different sources, the story does generally appear to be roughly the same.
The American Boyers book, Volume I, 7th Edition, relates the story of a Valentine Boyer (AD114) who had a son Jacob Boyer (AD1144) who had a son Jacob (AD11441). While it appears that the Jacob (AD11441) of Vol 1 and Jacob (BK) of Vol IV, appear to be the same because of the stories passed down, positive proof has not yet been found. But until it is, we believe that this lineage is probable.
